MHG*ArcLib V1 History Copyright Marshall H. Goodman Software Ltd. 1993
(Packet names: MHG0013L.ZIP and MHG0013S.ZIP)
Jul 10, 1993 MHG*ArcLib Version 1.3 Shareware Release
- Implemented EllTech Development's Compression Plus for Windows
a DLL that allows Zip processing without shelling out to Dos.
I put a time limit on the free use of the DLL, of 14 days. This will
give you an idea of how good it is to use. After 14 days, the application
will start shelling out to Dos for Zip processes.
Jun 28, 1993 MHG*ArcLib Version 1.2a Interim update
- Its the shareware authors lament.. "NOT another bug...groan"
So, I fixed some usabilty stuff, and some more small bugs.
Jun 24, 1993 MHG*Arclib Version 1.2 Shareware Release
- Compiled with Visual Basic Version 3.0
- distribution packet contains new VB3 SETUPKIT.DLL and GRID.VBX
- renamed distribution packets to MHG0012S.ZIP and MHG0012L.ZIP
MHG0012S.ZIP does not contain VBRUN300.DLL, MHG0012L.ZIP does
Jun 13, 1993 MHG*ArcLib Version 1.1 Bug Fix Release
- Fixes a bug in library load from diskettes, a bug where the last entry
in the library is invalid after a load, a bug in the clearing of the
library of entries whose status has changed.
- Volume count fixed, and hourglass display made consistent
- Deleting a library entry now has a better confirm message
Jun 1, 1993 MHG*ArcLIb Version 1.0 Release
- two distribution packages, one without vbrun200.dll called MHGSML10.ZIP
- added BBS_DESC.DOC for use when packet being uploaded to other BBS's.
May 27, 1993 Compiled with Visual Basic 2.0
May 25, 1993 Name change to MHG*ArcLib
- contacted by Software Excellence by Design, a company that
developed and markets a program called 'Zip Manager' and
they own the U.S. Copyright to the name. So I changed mine.
- all files formerly identified by the 'ZIPMGR' text now are
identified by 'MHGARLIB' and distribution ZIP now called MHG00010.ZIP
May 22, 1993 Production Shareware Version 1.8 (not released)
- Interface improvements.
- Usability Improvements
- Updated the Online Help
- Using the term 'library' rather than 'database'
May 3, 1993 Production Shareware Version 1.7B
- Interface improvements.
Apr 26, 1993 Production Shareware Version 1.7A
- Stac'd drives now supported.
- additional minor bugs corrected.
Apr 20, 1993 Production Shareware Version 1.7
- additional bugs fixed and cosmetic changes to program
- does not support database loading from Stac'd drives.
- BBS upload version, for Futuretron, Compuserve and CRS release.
Apr 17, 1993 Shareware Version 16G Beta (Shareware release)
- BBS upload version, for beta testing.
- PKZIP Version 204G support implemented (after determining the error in
the PKWare 204E docs, to disable DPMI). Now you can select the use of
DPMI or not, depending on your set up. PCKwik users should DISABLE the
use of DPMI with PKZip 204, when prompted by my program.
- Online Help now in sync with program.
- I have detected a problem when loading the database from a 'Stac'd' drive
however, DOS 6.0 'doublespace' drives work ok.
Mar 24, 1993 Shareware Version 16F Beta (Shareware release)
- CRS BBS upload version, for beta testing.
Mar 7, 1993 Shareware Beta Version 16 (for selected testers)
- Complete re-design of interface; implementing disk autoscan for loading
database; help is not current in this release
Feb 20, 1993 Shareware Point Release 1.5a (for Henry Jackson)
- Made three moderate changes. The process of selecting the database sort
index has been replaced by one button instead of 7 check-boxes. The
clicking of the button will display a selection panel with index options
as radio buttons, and buttons to 'select' or 'exit'.
The search for files/text in the database has been made easier with a
large input area and buttons that make more sense.
The database structure has been changed to add new fields and indexes.
Feb 16, 1993 PKZIP204 Comments
- I tried implementing PKZ204E. Its treatment of DPMI on my machine
(I'm running Pc-Kwik PowerPak) caused the complete loss of this project.
Fortunately, I had a backup from the previous day. Needless to say,
I will not implement PKZ204 at this time because I cannot protect the
user from problems or conflicts with regard to PKZ204 and its use of
DPMI, nor can I detect if the user is using software that depends on the
predictable memory usage that PKZ204E compromises. Sorry PKWare.
Jan 30, 1993 Shareware Point Release 1.5
- Version 1.4 was uploaded missing two files, ZIPMGR.DBF and ZIPMGR.EXE
My appologies to those who downloaded that release.
Jan 29, 1993 Shareware Point Release 1.4
- Various minor bugs (usability, etc.) corrected.
Jan 23, 1993 Shareware Point Release 1.3
- Video Resolution problem crops up again, 800x600 works on my machine
but not 1024x760. I put in a dialog box warning with an exit.
- SETUP_ZM.EXE now creates all sub-directories under ZIPMGR.
- I hopefully fixed some usability problems in this release.
- Your comments are welcome.
Jan 21, 1993 Shareware Point Release 1.2
- of course, after I uploaded version 1.1, there was a problem. It was
discovered that the .DLL's required to run ZIPMGR V1.1 could not be
located by ZIPMGR on startup. It happened on a system where the shell
was not program manager (it was Norton Desktop for Windows). I hope
that this problem is solved. Please let me know if this is fixed.
- included VBRUN100.DLL in distribution package.
